(clj-aus)
Australia’s Clojure Meetup

Australia doesn’t currently have an active Clojure user group in any city. We’re fixing that. Monthly, hybrid — in person in Sydney, streamed for everyone else, and every session recorded and published.

What we cover

Clojure and ClojureScript first, plus the wider family around them: ClojureDart for mobile, Babashka for scripting, and newer hosts like jank (native, LLVM/C++) and Jolt (Clojure on Chez Scheme).

Talks run from production experience reports to language and tooling deep-dives to beginner-friendly intros. Some months we skip the talks and write code together instead.

Who should come

Anyone who writes Clojure, used to, or is simply curious. If you’re arriving from Java, Python or JavaScript and have never written a parenthesis in anger, you’re exactly who we built this for.

Speaking

From session two onward, every clj-aus meetup has a lightning-talk slot — 5 to 10 minutes, and first-time speakers get priority. You don’t need to be an expert and you don’t need a finished thing. “Here’s something I built and here’s what surprised me” is a great talk.

Open an issue on clj-aus/meetings or say so in the Meetup comments.

Built to outlast us

Sydney had a Clojure meetup once. It went quiet when nobody kept it running, and the group was discontinued — taking its member list with it. This time the site, the recordings and the teaching material are all open source under the clj-aus organisation, so the group’s assets don’t depend on any one person’s account staying alive.
